Our FPL league after six gameweeks: above the global average every week, and the leader is 3,285th of 11 million

After six gameweeks the Fantasy PL Edge league has 71 teams from 12 countries — 58 from Poland, plus managers from Ireland, England, Iceland, Egypt, Uruguay and Botswana, among others. Every team has played from Gameweek 1. We went through the squads, captains, chips and history of each team. The most interesting finding: in every one of the six gameweeks, our league’s average was higher than the average across the whole game.

The table after Gameweek 6

# Team Points GW6 Change
1 Pogoń Bydło 481 67 —
2 AVERAGEJOE 476 74 —
3 PTC Mistrzem Anglii 449 65 —
4 Maciej’s Team 448 76 ▲ 3
5 Wojciech’s Team 442 69 ▲ 1
6 HaHaHaHaaland 438 59 ▼ 2
7 WinSquad 435 80 ▲ 9
8 Katalonia 73 433 68 ▲ 1
9 Sroki 26/27 432 69 ▲ 1
10 TCP United 430 68 ▲ 2

The best Gameweek 6 score in the league came from Baazar FC — 90 points, up from 39th to 21st. Behind them were FC Boring (88, up from 26th to 12th) and YNWA and Top Mark (84 each). The first three of those four captained Haaland. The full table, refreshed every 15 minutes, is on the league page — click a team name to see its squad.

Better than the world every week

Gameweek Our league average Whole game average Difference Teams above average
1 56.6 50 +6.6 47 of 71
2 94.3 81 +13.3 52 of 71
3 54.0 51 +3.0 45 of 71
4 75.3 69 +6.3 45 of 71
5 48.7 48 +0.7 38 of 71
6 60.4 55 +5.4 48 of 71

Six out of six. The margin is not constant, though: in Gameweek 5 it almost disappeared, and it was biggest in Gameweek 2 — the week our league captained Bruno Fernandes more often than Haaland while the rest of the game was selling him, and he scored a hat-trick. Note: the whole-game average for Gameweek 6 is still provisional.

Two teams among the world’s best

More than 11 million teams are playing FPL this season. Our league leader, Pogoń Bydło, is ranked 3,285th in the world, and second-placed AVERAGEJOE is 5,852nd. That is the top 0.03% and 0.05% of all managers respectively.

Further down: 23 of the 71 teams are inside the top million, and half the league is in roughly the top 16% of all managers (the middle team is ranked around 1.8 million).

Here is how that compares with the very top of the game (as of Tuesday 13 October morning):

Points after six gameweeks
World number 1 534
Average of the world top 10 527
Average of the world top 50 516
Our league leader (Pogoń Bydło) 481
Our league average 388
Average team across the whole game 354

Our leader is 35 points behind the average of the world top 50 and 53 behind the world number 1 — roughly what one very good gameweek is worth. The average team in our league has 388 points after six gameweeks, 34 more than the average FPL manager.

How our squads differ from the rest of the world

In August, right after the start of the season, we checked what our league owns. It was a “Manchester” league back then: Mbeumo was in 71.7% of our teams and Bruno Fernandes in 66.7%. Six gameweeks later, things look different.

Player Our league Whole game
Calafiori (ARS) 78.9% 52.2%
Haaland (MCI) 88.7% 75.0%
Groß (BHA) 60.6% 38.8%
Verbruggen (BHA) 45.1% 21.8%
Konsa (ARS) 40.8% 17.3%
Saka (ARS) 39.4% 16.8%
Mbeumo (MUN) 29.6% 20.0%
Bruno Fernandes (MUN) 31.0% 35.2%

The “Manchester” league has become an Arsenal and Brighton league. We own Calafiori, Konsa, Saka, Groß and Verbruggen between one and a half and two and a half times as often as the rest of the world. United have clearly lost ground: Mbeumo has fallen from 71.7% to 29.6%, Bruno from 66.7% to 31%, Maguire from 45% to 14%.

There is another side too. The players we most do not own, compared with everyone else:

  • Cherki — 16.9% in our league against 31% across the game. He scored 10 points in Gameweek 6, and our rating has risen to 88.
  • Guéhi — 5.6% against 17.9%. He is one of the highest-rated defenders in our model (89).
  • Gabriel — 8.5% against 21.9%. We take Arsenal’s defence the cheaper way: Calafiori and Konsa.
  • Van Dijk — 2.8% against 15.9%.

Captains in Gameweek 6

Captain Teams Points with armband
Haaland 24 12
Saka 15 4
Bruno Fernandes 13 2
Palmer 5 16
Groß 3 12
João Pedro 2 24

28 teams — almost 40% of the league — got 2 or 4 points from the armband. The two teams who captained João Pedro got 24.

Chips: 55 teams have already played one

Only 16 of the 71 teams have not used a chip yet. The rest break down like this:

  • Wildcard — 40 teams. Most in Gameweek 6 (16) and Gameweek 3 (13). The international break was a natural moment for a rebuild.
  • Triple Captain — 31 teams, 24 of them in Gameweek 3. Twenty-three of those tripled Haaland (9 points, so 27), and one went for Isak — and got 39.
  • Bench Boost — 30 teams, 19 of them as early as Gameweek 1.
  • Free Hit — 13 teams.

A reminder: the first set of chips has to be used before the Gameweek 19 deadline, which is 2 January 2027 (13:30 UK). Unused chips are lost. More in our chips guide.

Points hits

Twelve teams have taken extra transfers at a cost of 4 points so far. In total that has cost the league 112 points, and one team has given away 32 points this way.
